RFID Fashion & Specialty Retail Solutions

Optimize Your Product Availability with TAGSYS RFID Solutions for the Fashion & Specialty Retail Market

After several years of real world customer implementations and business analysis of the Fashion supply chain, TAGSYS has been able to refine its comprehensive RFID infrastructure for the Fashion and Specialty Retail market and introduce the industry’s first RFID ‘Reliability Guarantee’, ensuring customers can guaranty data accuracy and data integrity in their RFID implementations, not only in their logistics process but also at the store level, providing the ROI retailers expect.

TAGSYS provides a comprehensive end-to-end RFID infrastructure for the entire supply chain, from manufacturing to sales.

Along with our strategic partners, TAGSYS has deployed this solution within a number of retailers’ production supply chains, such as Throttleman in Portugal, Boboli in Spain and Serge Blanco and Rica Lewis in France, bringing significant operational benefits, both in logistics and retail, with an average ROI of less than 18 months.

The TAGSYS offer addresses:

  • Data Encoding
  • Data Capture
  • Data Management

Data Encoding: “Stick to the existing process without reinventing the wheel…”

The “Tag” or “RFID Label” is placed on the ‘hang tag’ (or ‘swing ticket’) of the garment.

Two methods are possible:

  • “Adhesive Paper Tag”: similar to a paper barcode, printed and RFID-encoded directly by the retailer, applied directly onto the ‘hang tag’ and sent to the different suppliers.
  • “Service Bureau”: the retailer sends the data via secured network (including size, color, price) to label converters, who integrate the tag inside the “hang tag”, and print the information at the supplier site. The data and the finished tags are then sent to the different suppliers. To enable this service, TAGSYS has engaged partnerships with key label converters located throughout the world.

The process of turning the existing “hang tags” into RFID labels is transparent for the suppliers, who continue to deal with the existing barcode information without any change to their existing process and method.

Data Capture: “Dedicated RFID stations providing significant operational benefits in both Logistics and Retail”

TAGSYS has designed a wide range of RFID stations specifically dedicated to the Fashion and Specialty Retail industry, enabling to track products along the entire supply chain, without altering existing operational processes. Benefits of our RFID infrastructure include:

In Logistics:

  • Acceleration of the reception/expedition processes
  • Improved stock reliability
  • Increased logistics capacity (more physical space)
  • More flexibility to manage growth with existing infrastructure
  • Acceleration of product rotations to stores
  • Cross docking
  • Enhanced internal controls

In Retail:

  • Acceleration of the reception processes
  • Improved stock reliability
  • Ability to perform daily inventories
  • Significant shrinkage reduction
  • Better knowledge of tried/sold product ratio
  • Increased product availability for sales
  • Increased turnover per store (reduction of lost sales)
  • Improved customer knowledge

Data Management: “e-Connectware™ for Fashion”

TAGSYS provides an RFID integration solution which performs data acquisition tasks to forward functional data to the IT systems, like ERP or WMS. e-Connectware™ is our RFID integration solution able to execute RFID Middleware functions without the limitations of a traditional Enterprise Application Server solution.

Based on a flexible and scalable infrastructure, e-Connectware’s key features are:

  1. distributed intelligence embedded in components running on smart readers and a set of servers,
  2. middleware layer based on a reliable asynchronous communication system.

In the Fashion and Specialty Retail market, e-Connectware administers the RFID network and guaranties the requested quality of service (QOS). The integration with the traditional IT application like ERP is simplified by “on the shelf connector” drastically reducing the customisation phase.

Based on EPCglobal standards like EPCIS, e-Connectware functionalities provide a global vision of the processes, associated with consistent Key Performance Indicators’ information.

e-Connectware contributes to lower management overheads and prevents discrepancies, delivering the lower Total-Cost-of-Ownership expected in the market.
